The third stage of the Transpyr Coast to Coast to coast arrives a heart of the Pyrenees with an unforgettable stage


Whether arriving by the exhilarating descent to the finish in Bagnères de Bigorre by mountain bike or via the legendary Tourmalet mountain for those on road bikes the third stage was an unforgettable one for hundreds of riders from around the world.

The Transpyr Gran Raid MTB route started with a tricky climb to begin the 107km route that included 3200m of climbing. At the start of the day it looked as if the wet conditions would persist but as the riders progressed conditions improved. After the second timed section the final descent of the day was a delight to the international peloton of riders.

The timed actions saw another victory for Fox Factory Team with Ismael Ventura y Guillem Cassu in the men’s category. In the women’s category, María Vila y Antonio Sendra took the win. In the mixed gender category María Vila and Antonio Sendra won while the Italian pair of Simone Scarella and Stefano Fratta were victorious in the masters. Finally in the Grand Master category the German – Slovenian team MIS RACING have had their lead in the general classification reduced by the Italian pair of Andrea Vecchiato and Roland Ploner.

In the road event this was the queen stage, a 149km route with over 3500m of climbing finished with the legendary Tourmalet Climb. Both the Tourmalet and the Col d’Spandelles from today’s route will be included in this year’s Tour de France route so riders had a chance to experience cycling heritage first hand.

Tomorrow the race will begin in the iconic Place des Thermes de Bagnères de Bigorre and cross the symbolic North South Pyrenean divide in a marathon of a stage. 107km with 3500m of climbing for the mountain bike category and 123km over 34oom of climbing for the road event. With a spectacular finish in Vielha, in Val d’Aran.

Mañana se saldrá de la emblemática Place des Thermes de Bagnères de Bigorre y a mitad de recorrido se realiza el simbólico paso de la vertiente norte a la vertiente sud, en una maratoniana etapa de 107 kilómetros y unos desafiantes 3500 metros de desnivel en montaña y 123 kilómetros con 3400 metros positivos con llegada en Vielha, en el Val d’Aran.
