The sixth stage of the Deporvillage Transpyr Coast to Coast enters the Pyrenees of Girona and approaches the Costa Brava

The sixth stage of the Deporvillage Transpyr Coast to Coast enters the Girona Pyrenees and approaches the Costa Brava with only one stage to go before the end of the twelfth edition of the Deporvillage Transpyr Coast to Coast, the passage through Cerdanya and the arrival in Ripollès has become a new challenge marked by demanding climbs, fun descents and a progressive change of scenery.

With less heat than in the previous stage, the greatest difficulty for the mountain bikers was found in the long ascent to the Coll de la Creu de Maians pass, almost 2000 metres high, and the final wall in the Collada Verda area. On the other hand, the descent from Dórria was a combination of good roads and beautiful trails, sometimes through the forest, sometimes across meadows, which delighted the international peloton. The timed section once again gave victory to Ismael Ventura and Guillem Cassú of the Fox Factory Team in the men’s category, and to the Italian teams of Simone Scarella and Stefano Fratta in the Masters category and Roland Ploner and Andrea Vecchiato in the Super Masters category.

In the road cycling category, the star of the day was the Toses pass and a purely Backroads route through the Jou pass, which allowed the riders to enter one of the lesser-known areas for lovers of fine wheels.

Now that the stage is over, the participants who started on Sunday in the Cantabrian Sea are less than 24 hours away from fulfilling their dream of crossing the Pyrenees in just 7 days, with the town of Roses just one stage away. Before that, they will still have to cover more than 100 kilometres and almost 3,000 metres of elevation gain.
